England football coach Thomas Tuchel has named the 26 players in the squad set to represent England at the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Led by captain Harry Kane, the England squad selection was revealed today (May 22) in a live show broadcast from Wembley Stadium via the official England app.
England squad selection sees record appearances
Selection headlines include Harry Kane captaining England at his third World Cup, equalling the record set by Billy Wright in 1950, 1954 and 1958. Manchester City’s John Stones and Manchester-born Marcus Rashford, alongside Jordan Pickford, will also be appearing at their third World Cup.
Jordan Henderson will be making a Three Lions’ record-equalling fourth appearance in the finals alongside Sir Bobby Charlton. It will be his seventh major tournament, equalling Lucy Bronze’s all-time England record of UEFA EURO and World Cup finals’ appearances.
Which Manchester club footballers have been selected for the England squad?
Representing Manchester City, goalkeeper James Trafford, defenders Marc Guéhi, Nico O’Reilly, and John Stones, who is leaving the club at the end of the 2025/26 season, have been selected for the England squad.
As for Manchester United, midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and forward Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan from the club and playing for Barcelona.

England pre-tournament matches and World Cup group games
England will prepare for the World Cup with fixtures against New Zealand in Tampa and Costa Rica in Orlando on 6 and 10 June, respectively.
England’s first World Cup group match will take place on Wednesday 17 June (9pm BST) in Dallas against Croatia. Further Group L matches will follow against Ghana in Boston on Tuesday 23 June (9pm BST) and Panama in New York/New Jersey on Saturday 27 June (10pm BST).
